The Final Countdown Is On

Yessireebob, we’re in the home stretch! To what? The 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, that’s what! I know I was griping earlier about all the commercials and ads, but that doesn’t mean nuthin! The girls and I are getting all set, picking up the last few Team Canada items (and Team Norge in J’s case too), and we’re getting really excited now.

For a while there I was having a boot dilemma, which may seem trivial, but given that we’re going to see a few events outside, in the snow, I wasn’t entirely sure which ones to bring. The full-on snow boots were excessive (think Sorels), and my Toronto city boots (think high-ankle boots with a good sole on them) weren’t warm enough. Now Vancouver isn’t a cold city, nor does it get lots of snow, and even when we’re up in Whistler for the cross-country events we won’t be there for hours & hours, but still. I didn’t want to have my feet freeze and snow coming in the tops of the boots, you know? I do have some half-snow kickers, as I call them, but I was thinking those might be excessive too, but in the end I decided to go with them (they’re nice Columbia boots with a good sole, fuzziness inside and are high-ankle height). I  know J was happy when I finally decided on boots, and Mel was starting to get stress out by the fact that I was getting stressed out. I know, silliness.

But that’s all sorted out, so we’re good. Now if we can only sell those Latvia vs Slovakia men’s hockey tickets, we’d be all set. ;-)
