Everybody’s Got the Christmas Crazies

I often joke that I don’t like to go to the mall during the month of December, because people just get crazy in their present shopping. But today it wasn’t the people in the mall, but the people trying to get TO the mall. I went out to pick up some yarn to crochet up a new scarf, and popped over to Michael’s. The closest Michael’s store to me is attached to an outlet mall, which normally isn’t a big deal. But today, the last weekend before Christmas, I figured it would be insane.

Surprisingly the parking lot, mall and store were pretty normal. Busy, sure, but not crazy. And then I left the store to come home.

Wow, what a difference! People were cutting each other off, going too slow, or stopping inappropriately. It was crazy! Add to that all the grandmas and grandpas out there who only drive once a month, and it was a recipe for disaster. Luckily I made it to the grocery store and then home without incident, but wow, was it ever impressive. Let’s hope the crazy people aren’t out when I’m driving out to Kingston for Xmas!

On my way to the mall last night (stupid, I know – but I had a massage scheduled) I couldn’t figure out why the woman in front of me kept braking. There was no one in front of her and it just didn’t make any sense – until I got up beside her… she was texting! Yes, xmas traffic is a great time to be texting in your car.
