Oh the Damage, the Knitting Damage

Check it out:

I’m not sure if you can see that, but it’s a hole in my finger. Yes, at the end of that arrow, there’s a hole in my finger. And do you know why? From knitting! That spot is where I push my knitting needles in, and I guess with all the knitting I’ve been doing while I’m home right now, the callus just gave up the ghost. It probably wouldn’t have happened with my Denise needles, as they’re not so pointy, but my Options Interchangeable ones are quite pointy. Sometimes I’ve felt like I’ve needed to wear a finger guard or something as I knit, but since I developed a callus there, I figured I was good.

Well, I was wrong.

The skin actually peeled off, and I’ve got a little crater on my index finger. Looks kinda funny, and I must say, it annoys the crap out of me! BUT, I didn’t finish off my friend’s shawl this week, which I’m excited about. I’m going to test it out by washing it this weekend, so I’ll keep you posted on how it fares.

Do you mean you DID finish the shawl? I think you should have gotten the wooden options needles, they aren’t as pointy as the metal ones. I can’t believe you have a whole in your finger. That’s crazy.

@ Mel: Yes, it means I DID finish the shawl! Right now I just have to wash it to see if it holds up under the strain. ;-)
