You know when you have those trying times in life when you’re not sure of a lot of things, and nothing you do seems to go right? Yeah, I’m having one of those periods right now, and it’s lasting a little longer than I would like, so in an effort to keep smiling and retain my sanity, I am knitting up a storm! In the past I would have spent my time reading, but I find I don’t have quite as much patience for that these days. And since I spend all day on the computer at work, I don’t necessarily want to work on my novel right now. So knitting is my new sanity saver.
I’m working on my friend J’s shawl, which is coming along very nicely. I’m going to finish off the current skein I’m using and then measure it, because I actually have no idea how wide it is. I might be close to being done, but I have no idea. But because I’m knitting that one with sock yarn, it’s a little trying to do it cuz the yarn’s so teeny-tiny. That’s when I switch to the final Italian blanket. This one’s a moderne log cabin, so that means I’m knitting up giant squares and rectangles instead of skinny logs. I’m having fun with this one too, mostly because it means that the Italian blanket knitting saga my sister and I have embarked on is almost done. haha. But what’s exciting about that is that it means we’ll be buying tickets to Italy soon! We’ve tentatively scheduled to go in the fall, probably September, so I’m very excited at the idea. Can’t wait!
And while I’ve only got those two projects on the go, I’m also debating starting a new one, doing up a Mason-Dixon log cabin bath mat. My friend M did one and it looks great, so I might just have to do one of those too, since I don’t really like my current bath mats. I’ll think about it and let you know.
So I’m just gonna keep knitting and trying to smile and hope that it all helps me thru these annoyingly troubling times.
