What a weekend! Spent yesterday morning running errands, topped off by washing my it’s-not-supposed-to-be-white black car. I drove it immediately into the parking garage with a minimum of redirty-ing too, which is nice. Normally I’m all about washing my car so it looks spiffy, because I do love my car, but in the winter time it’s so hard to justify spending the money when it just gets dirty right away after you leave the car wash. So I haven’t been washing it too much, however this week it was actually encrusted with all sorts of salt n’ snow n’ other stuff, and it started to get me dirty. That’s the last straw for me, when my car starts to get me dirty. So I washed & waxed it and it looks fab!
But then I spent the rest of the day knitting up Italian Blanket #3. I finished off Italian Blanket #1, and Carol’s almost done Italian Blanket #2, so it was time to get moving on #3. Thankfully we have decided to postpone our trip to the fall of this year, so that I’ve actually got time to do this one! Number 1 took me almost 9 months, so I figure I’ll need every single bit of time to finish Number 3 off, that’s for sure. We ended up having to postpone the trip because we’re both so busy with work this spring. There was no way I was going to be able to get away this spring, as I’ll have lots of online help to write up at work, and Carol will have lots of pills to dispense in the pharmacy.
It started snowing, again, yesterday, and looked rather pretty. When I woke up we had gotten almost 10cms here at my house, and depending onwhere you live, you might have gotten almost 15cms! Of course this wasn’t nearly as “excited” (and I use that term loosely) as Thursday night in my neighbourhood, as it was -17C AND MY POWER WENT OUT. There was a problem at a power station and the power was out for almost 12 hours at my house. Thankfully I’m in an apartment building so the heat dissipated slowly, and it was only in the morning that it was a tad nippy in here. But I had to go to work so it was okay. My power came on about 12 hours after it went out, so by the time I got home my apartment was nice and toasty again. But there were a lot of people who went 24 hours without power, which was just crazy. It was the coldest week this winter, we’d been at about -15 for three or four days before, so going 24 hours without heat in your house was just crazy. If my power hadn’t come back on during the day I would have been trekking over to a friend’s house, that’s for sure! No sense in spending all that time freezing if you didn’t need to.
Thankfully the temperature’s rising today, so we’ll be into “normal” temps and will only have to deal with the snow.
This morning I woke up to the nice fluffy snow, as the temperature is still rising, so the snow that’s down is light and fluffy. Oh, and the building maintenance dudes were kind enough to wait till 8:30 before plowing the walkway in front of the building (I live on a low floor, so I hear it all), which was nice. Last Sunday they came out at like 6am to do it, and made all sorts of noise…I couldn’t believe it!
I’ve spent the last 90 minutes or so just working on my various blogs n’ such, which has been fun. Edge 102.1 has been doing a “double-shot” weekend where they play two songs from the same artist in a row, and I’ve been enjoying that. Especially because they’ve been trying to pick songs they haven’t played in a while from the artist, so I’m getting treated to some good tunes I haven’t heard in a while. Okay, time to get back to the knitting…I’ve got a schedule now!
